In this example, a small business is trying to understand how their average unit cost is almost 11% higher than prior month. With a mix of over fifty products spread over four categories and 7 brands, attributing the increase back to higher cost of goods sold versus mix of product sold is mighty important to ensure the business can plan to stay profitable by identifying the right pricing strategy or working with the vendor for cost mitigation.
